Love the car cover fashion statement! Actually the cars seem to belie the apparent squalor. Any thoughts?

My understanding was that these were needed to keep off the grime.
As for cars in Islamic Cairo, I guess it is surprising that there would be so many. But I was on the "main drag." Once you get off of that, no more cars. I was expecting more scooters and bikes, though. But I suppose Cairo isn't a good place to have scooters, and culturally I don't think bikes have caught on. By the way

When I looked at my pictures, I was kind of surprised by how they actually make Cairo look less gritty than it really is. It's hard to get a sense of it from an image.

Maybe you needed a cloudy day. The bright light and blue skies make everything look fresher, even the laundry.
