Boy, I wouldn't have guessed you were new at this. What I like most about your "voice" is its humanity. That has come through in every piece of writing I've seen you produce. (BTW, when things slow down I'm going to print out and give some reflection to your comments to me re blogging as an aid to professional productivity.) I thought it was a bad idea to go into Iraq, a bad idea to occupy it more or less unilaterally, a bad idea to occupy it so lightly, and a bad idea to hold elections before the country had even a minimal degree of stability. But now that we're at this crossroads, what else can anyone do but pray that the Iraqi people will somehow make of this moment more than seems reasonably possible. The day Congress passed the 13th amendment abolishing slavery, one congressman turned to another and said, "See, the world does move." Let's hope it moves some today.
