Note on the revised version maps

MC MasterChef
"Yining" is the modern Chinese name for the city of Gulja, if that helps people when reading along. The best map of Xinjiang that I found is contained in the front of Christian Tyler's Wild West China, which is a very travelogue sort of book; easy reading and a good introduction, though it contains some of the shortcomings you might expect from such close first-person reportage (his prose is quite beautiful at times, and made me really want to visit for myself, but at a few other points just goes flat-out wierd.. I don't think I'd ever think to compare chickens hanging in a night market stall to porn stars on display, for example... but maybe that's just me). The Starr book, which was my other primary source, is more academic and is recommended for anyone who'd like to delve into the subject in greater detail than what's offered in this paper.
