Jamestown invites you to attend a discussion on the current state of al-Qaeda in Iraq and how it relates to the ongoing insurgency. Three panelists will provide their perspectives on the problem and what significant trends are emerging concerning terrorism in Iraq.
Professor Ahmed S. Hashim is a leading authority on Middle Eastern, Central and South Asian security issues. A member of the United States Naval War College's strategic research department, Hashim recently returned from field research in Iraq.
Stephen Ulph is a senior fellow of the Jamestown Foundation and editor of Jamestown's Terrorism Focus. One of the preeminent analysts of the Islamic world, Mr. Ulph specializes in the security and political developments of the Middle East and North Africa and was previously an editor for Jane's Information Group.
Mahan Abedin is the editor of Jamestown's Terrorism Monitor. He has been a Middle East analyst in the UK for several years, specializing in Iraq and Iran. He also contributes to the Lebanese Daily Star and Persian weeklies in London.
