So the Bush administration is considering effectively punishing blue states by eliminating federal deductions for state and local taxes.
The Democrats should announce that any Republican representing a state that would be disproportionately affected by the change would be heavily targeted if they go along with this plan. It's long past time to put the moderates on the spot.

of the "no deductions of any kind" movement than a "punish eht blue states" movement. But it clearly might punish the blue states in the short run.
It might also in the long run, as more people decide to move out of the blue states for less expensive places. The long range effect could be like this: the current blue states resemble the class structure of most of South America, the Red States more resemble the class structure of Switzerland.
