As the presidential campaign enters the home stretch, it is good news indeed that the Ancient and Hermetic Order of the Shrill now has an official site. The initial launch has gone exceedingly well, with the numbers of links on Technorati showing robust growth.
Competition among media mavens of all types for recognition by the order has become intense. Yet their contributions pale next to those made by former high-ranking officials and commanding generals who have served under the Bush Administration. As the Order documents, those whose contributions made them early members have not been satistifed to rest on their laurels. They have continued to raise the level of their efforts, and new honors in the hierarchical Order have been created to recognize those truly outstanding individuals.
It is fitting that special recognition -- although "lifetime achievement" honor would be a misnomer -- has been made to Fafblog. As the Order's announcement recognizes:
Since the entire Fafblog--Fafnir, Giblets, and the Medium Lobster--exists "outside" our "notions" of "linear" "time," it is false to say that Fafblog has joined, is joining, or will join the Order of the Shrill. Before the Order was, Fafblog shrill am.It is for such noteworthy contributions-- not simply to the volume or distribution of shrillness, but to its clarity (both moral and tonal) -- that Fafblog has always been first on the list of links at Chez Nadezhda.
