Curious what you're referring to by "corporatism"
ah, sorry

Sorry, maybe I made up that term. Think of it as governing for the benefit of corporate interests rather than the public interest.

Well Bush and the previous commenters seem to have proven that what did not count electorially this time was "internationalist progressive cant". I did find the " pragmatism" suggestion of fling93 rather odd: since what Bush did worked, it might have been VERY pragmatic on his part.

"internationalist progressive cant" is a big loser. I always thought Kerry was too enamoured of it. But I think Fling was talking economics.

I mean his policies, not his campaign strategy. Not just the economic ones, although those are probably the ones I've looked at more closely. But going after the hearts and minds of Muslims worldwide and allowing Abu Ghraib? Trying to nationbuild but dismantling the Iraqi security forces and not putting enough troops on the ground? Talking up free trade while raising tariffs? Talking up SS reform while squandering the surplus that would've been needed for the transition costs? Passing a Medicare bill that's just going to skyrocket costs by making prescription drugs an entitlement? Talking about WMDs and invading a country that didn't even have it's own nuclear program while doing absolutely nothing about two countries that did?
And all of which were argued against by his own advisors. Seems like a guy who is unusually indifferent to the actual results of his policies. Trackbacks
